Wallace Charles Smith (WCS) Young Adult Ensemble
History/Mission
In 2002, Mr.
Thomas Dixon Tyler, the Minister of Music and Special
Assistant to the Pastor, saw that there was a need to
revitalize the Shiloh youth choir and a need to form a young
adult choir. The Shiloh Young Adult Ensemble was formed in
2003, and made its debut on Easter Sunday in 2003 under the
direction of the talented Mr. Rodney Avery. The name of the
twelve member ensemble was changed to the Wallace Charles
Smith (WCS) Young Adult Ensemble and was joined by Mrs. Para
Perry as its co-director in July of that year. In 2004, Mr.
Marvin Ford became the director of the ensemble where they
grew in numbers and spirituality. During the summer of
2008, the ensemble continued its ministry under Mr. Brandon
Frazier. The ensemble has sung throughout the metropolitan
area at other church services at other places of worship,
such as Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), Fredericksburg,
VA, Parker Memorial Baptist Church, Burtonsville, MD, and
the Mormon Temple, Kensington, MD. We have also
participated in various community events.
The WCS
Ensemble welcomes all young adults between the ages of 18-45
to “Sing Unto the Lord a New Song” Psalms 98:1. Our
mission is to take the charge the Lord has placed upon our
hearts-the charge to use our voices, and hold high the blood
stained banner, as we collectively unite to praise the Lord
on one accord. To minister to someone who may be lost, or
simply just trying to find their way. Being young adults
ourselves, we can relate to the “just gettin’ by times.”
Our prayer is that our ministry through song helps someone
find their way.
The ensemble renders services every third Sunday of each
month and is currently under the dynamic direction of Mr.
Mark Francis.
