Campaign Update - 10

Campaign Chairs

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.  And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:1-5

As we enter into what we believe will be the final days of this process, we pause to reflect.  Because of God's faithfulness exhibited in your sacrificial giving, we more than doubled our target goal.  As of August 19, 2007 the donations to the campaign total $215,029.53. Our second goal was to create a culture of transparency throughout this campaign.  We promised to share total donations and expenses and regular progress reports.  We believe we have honored our commitment to you.

We also asked that all of us, regardless of our options on the issues we face, work together to Take The Signs Down.  In keeping with our call to unity, we decided not to announce any individual contributions or to publish the name of any donors.  Reverend Smith has decided that he will publish the names of all who made contributions.  Please contact Mrs. Sarah Jackson, in the church office, if you do not want your name published.

Again, we thank you for your support.  Special thanks to Mrs. Charles Randolph for his hard work and dedication to this effort.  He assures us that we are on track to meet the District's deadline of September 12, 2007.

Our update for this week is as follows:

  1. Additional brickwork and repairs on 1532 and 1534 9th Street; and 1600 8th Street, not included in the first two contracts, totals $6,780.00.  This bill has been paid.

  2. The permit was received to dismantle the garage.  Removal of the garage completes the repairs on the 9th Street properties outlined in first contract.  Once the garage has been removed a fence will be installed behind 1526 and 1528 9th street to secure the area.  The estimated cost of this fence is $3,000.

  3. The gutter work is completed at 1533 9th Street.

  4. A contract has not yet been signed by the trustees for the work needed on 1543 9th Street.

  5. An estimate for the extermination contract has been received.  This work will not begin until all repairs have been completed.

If funds remain, after we have met the requirements of the District of Columbia Government to Take The condemnation) Signs Down, we will seek recommendations and a decision from the congregation for future spending.

I need you.  You need me.  We're all a part of God's body.
Stand with me.  Agree with me.  I need you to survive.
It is His will that every need be supplied.  You are important to me.
  I need you to survive.
