Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain

On November 20, 2007 God blessed us to accomplish the most significant task our church has faced since building our new sanctuary, the refinancing of our loan with PNC Bank. September 17, 2007  was the ending of our existing mortgage and was the time when we would have been required to make the balloon payment of 6.8 million dollars or refinance, the amount remaining on our original loan. PNC carefully examined our financial records, our tithes and offerings, our expenses, our audits, and determined that they would refinance the loan. This refinancing will amount to a savings of nearly $10,000 per month in our monthly mortgage payment or some $120,000 per year. To God be the glory.

Our deepest gratitude is extended to our Trustee Board and members of our Finance Committee who worked diligently and tirelessly in endless meetings and written communications to make the refinancing a reality. Also, we are grateful to our auditors, Bert Smith and Company, one of the nation’s premier auditing firms, for the outstanding way they have scrutinized and examined our finances over the last 15 years. The officials of PNC, in granting this loan, have shown their unqualified support for Shiloh’s financial health and well-being.

Over the years I have come to see ever more clearly, the way God looks after and cares for the righteous. One cannot but be reminded of the words of Nehemiah as he worked to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and was confronted by those who meant him and his people only evil. He was asked to attend a bogus meeting where the plot was to take his life. To those of evil intent Nehemiah responded, “I am doing a good work and I cannot come down.” (Nehemiah 6:3)
