Our 144th Church Anniversary and Revival were overwhelming successes. We thank God for the Service of Remembrance Committee, the Banquet Committee, the Special Activities Committee and all who made the celebration so wonderful. It was a marvelous way for our Church family to bring a challenging Church year to a close and to gear up for what we know will be a rewarding and spirit filled new season.

All who heard the sermons of W. Franklin Richardson were mightily blessed. Tuesday’s message of ‘‘Living on Left Overs’’ struck a deeply responsive chord in the congregation. The theme of the sermon was that all of us from birth are living on the days we have left. We must make the best of what we have and understand that we have much more than we realize. We thank God for the inspiration of Dr. Richardson’s moving and engaging presentations. They will be with us for many years to come.

As we go into our new Church year we will use as our theme, “One Vision, One Village, One Victory.” God has already shown us what we can do if we stand together and let God lead us. With God at the helm we need not fear to claim the victory. In the Take Down the Signs Campaign we more than doubled our financial goal. With the proceeds from the campaign we have taken care of the repairs mandated by the Board for the Condemnation of Insanitary Buildings  to remove the condemnations. In the lobby of the Family Life Center letters are posted which indicate that four of the properties have been removed from the condemnation list. To God be the glory! Great things can happen when we stand together and are led by God. Again, we thank Deacons Constance Tate and Janice Bowden for the excellent leadership they provided for the campaign.

As a congregation we have our challenges. However, as Job said, “When he has tried us we shall come forth as gold.” Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
