Pastor's Pen

Words cannot express the gratitude my wife and I feel for the wonderful 16th Anniversary celebration.  Everything from the Thursday evening Worship Through the Arts, the luncheon on Saturday and the Worship Services and reception on Sunday, was an exceptional, spiritual blessing.  People commented to us over and over how all the events were such outpourings of love.  My God bless all who contributed their time and their gifts and their prayers toward this successful 16th Anniversary.  Shiloh you are a loving, supportive congregation.  We will keep you ever in our prayers.

The Take Down The Signs Campaign was a remarkable success.  To date receipts total more than $170,000.00.  We exceeded our goal by over $70,000 and this is only three weeks in which to work.  Special thanks to the rally’s co-chairs, Deacon Constance Tate and Deacon Janice Bowden.  Their excellent leadership did much to make the Campaign such an overwhelming accomplishment.  Never has there been a better example that when prayers go up, blessings come down.  Let me express our profound gratitude to all who contributed.  No matter how large or small every gift led to this victory.  To God be the Glory!

Two weeks ago in Accra, Ghana the Baptist World Alliance (BWA)  made a ground breaking decision in unanimously selecting Dr. Neville Callam as General Secretary of the Alliance.  Dr. Callam is the first person of African decent in BWA’s 105-year history to lead this organization.  Dr. Callam, a successful pastor in Jamaica and global scholar has been an active and vital part of the Alliance’s work for a number of years.

Dr. Callam replaces Dr. Denton Lotz who for 19 years served as the Executive Director.  Dr. Lotzs did an outstanding job of increasing BWA’s presence and outreach throughout the world.  Although he will be greatly missed, we are confident Dr. Callam will build on its great legacy and take BWA onward and upward.  Please pray for our new General Secretary and the Baptist World Alliance as we face the challenges of the coming years.
