Missions Ministry

WHAT IS A MISSIONS MINISTRY?

A Missions Ministry consist of persons who are dedicated to spreading the Gospel by word and deed, either for life or for a fixed period of time, either at home or abroad.  It is the People of God bringing material aid such as food or medicine to those in need, offering their time and resources in the corporal works of mercy.

WHAT THE MISSIONS MINISTRY DOES AT SHILOH?

  • Provide a monthly Community Fellowship meal. The fellowship meals provide a nutritious lunch for the area’s homeless and indigent population.  Meals are served from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm on the 3rd Saturday of each month and serves on average 120 persons a month.

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals for So Others May Eat (S.O.M.E.) on the 4th Friday of each month.

  • Conduct weekly Bible Study at Rachel's Women's Center.  This is a transitional center with hundred of persons passing through annually.

  • Each Mission group may embark on a special project such as working with Food and Friends, visiting Nursing homes, and participating in tutoring and mentoring programs.

SHILOH MISSIONS SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

"Then the King will speak to those on his right. He will say, 'My Father has blessed you. Come and take what is yours. It is the kingdom prepared for you since the world was created.  I was hungry. And you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty. And you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger. And you invited me in.  I needed clothes. And you gave them to me. I was sick. And you took care of me. I was in prison. And you came to visit me.'

"Then the people who have done what is right will answer him.’Lord,' they will ask, 'when did we see you hungry and feed you? When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you as a stranger and invite you in? When did we see you needing clothes and give them to you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

"The King will reply, 'What I'm about to tell you is true. Anything you did for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”  Matthew 25: 31-40 NIRV
