
Malik
King Williams was born in Washington, D. C. on
February 18, 1991, to Stanley and Judy Williams, at
Columbia Hospital for Women. He grew up in the
North East section of the city, known as Woodridge.
He enjoyed playing with his older sister, Lanita,
and continues to enjoy her even more, now that they
are older and have more things in common.
Malik began his
educational career by attending preschool at Bunker
Hill Elementary. He continued at Bunker Hill
through fifth grade. Malik entered St. Augustine
Catholic School and graduated in June, 2005. Malik
then entered Wilson Senior High School and attended
9th and 10th grade. In 2007,
Malik enrolled in Roosevelt Senior High School and
he is currently a senior. He has academically
excelled and has been on the Honor Roll. In his
senior year, Malik began taking Culinary Art
classes, developing and advancing his cooking
skills. He has done so well, that he will be one of
five students from Roosevelt who will represent the
District of Columbia Public Schools at the National
ProStart Culinary Competition, which will be held in
San Diego, California, from April 23-April 27, 2009.
Malik has many
interests. At the age of five, he began taking Tae
Kwon Do. He won several tournaments and trophies,
under the leadership of his instructor, Mr. Mark
Baker. He began to play football with the Woodridge
Warriors, at the age of eight. He continued to play
football, in the Pop Warner Football League for
three years. Malik played high school football at
Wilson Senior High. After entering Roosevelt Senior
High, Malik began to play baseball, for the
Roosevelt Rough Riders, where he continues to play
during his senior year.
Malik has won several
Citywide Science Fair Competitions, while in middle
and high school. He was awarded first place in
chemistry and third place in plant science. In
March, 2008, not only did he win third place
citywide, but he was awarded a two week paid
internship, by Walter Reed Army Medical Research
Institute. Malik did research for a week at Walter
Reed and a week at George Washington University, in
the School of Engineering.
In 2007, Malik was
recommended and selected to become a part of the
People to People Student Ambassador Program. In the
summer of 2008, Malik traveled for a month
throughout Europe, visiting England, France, Monaco,
and Italy. He also met with several political and
religious leaders, stayed with a family on the
French Riviera, while experiencing true immersion,
in other cultures.
Malik is a member of
Boy Scout Troop 524 and recently attained the level
of Eagle Scout, in February, 2009. With his troop,
he has enjoyed hiking, camping, cooking and the
camaraderie of his fellow scouts. Malik has been
recognized for his leadership abilities and has
earned many merit badges. He is currently Assistant
Troop Leader.
Malik is a member of
Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, D. C. He serves
as an usher; he has assisted as a server with the
Sunday food service, has fed the homeless and has
helped to distribute baskets to the needy, during
the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Malik will graduate
from Roosevelt Senior High School in June, 2009. He
has been accepted at Lincoln University, in
Pennsylvania and will enter in the fall of 2009,
with a major in Mechanical Engineering.
