Malik has many interests.  At the age of five, he began taking Tae Kwon Do.  He won several tournaments and trophies, under the leadership of his instructor, Mr. Mark Baker.  He began to play football with the Woodridge Warriors, at the age of eight.  He continued to play football, in the Pop Warner Football League for three years.  Malik played high school football at Wilson Senior High.  After entering Roosevelt Senior High, Malik began to play baseball, for the Roosevelt Rough Riders, where he continues to play during his senior year.

Malik has won several Citywide Science Fair Competitions, while in middle and high school.  He was awarded first place in chemistry and third place in plant science.  In March, 2008, not only did he win third place citywide, but he was awarded a two week paid internship, by Walter Reed Army Medical Research Institute.   Malik did research for a week at Walter Reed and a week at George Washington University, in the School of Engineering.

In 2007, Malik was recommended and selected to become a part of the People to People Student Ambassador Program. In the summer of 2008, Malik traveled for a month throughout Europe, visiting England, France, Monaco, and Italy. He also met with several political and religious leaders, stayed with a family on the French Riviera, while experiencing true immersion, in other cultures.

Malik is a member of Boy Scout Troop 524 and recently attained the level of Eagle Scout, in February, 2009.  With his troop, he has enjoyed hiking, camping, cooking and the camaraderie of his fellow scouts.  Malik has been recognized for his leadership abilities and has earned many merit badges. He is currently Assistant Troop Leader.

Malik is a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, D. C. He serves as an usher; he has assisted as a server with the Sunday food service, has fed the homeless and has helped to distribute baskets to the needy, during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Malik will graduate from Roosevelt Senior High School in June, 2009.  He has been accepted at Lincoln University, in Pennsylvania and will enter in the fall of 2009, with a major in Mechanical Engineering.
