Our Purpose

Theme:

Our Pastor, Reverend Wallace Charles Smith envisions a holistic Ministry of Building by Caring.  which include a 3-tier approach -

  • Care for Ourselves (spiritually)

  • Care for Our Relations (family, friends and members)

  • Care for Our Community (outreach)

In building our capacity to care we will also create an atmosphere that will increase our church's membership, winning more souls to Christ - "They will know we are Christians by our love."

Vision Statement:

Shiloh Baptist Church (Washington) is committed to building a Village that Represents God’s Kingdom.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Shiloh Baptist Church is to save souls for Christ.  We do this by believing in Jesus Christ, spreading the Good News, worshipping, teaching, growing, caring, sharing, cultivating Christian lifestyles, promoting justice, ministering to those in need, the oppressed and physically challenged and people of all ages and nationalities, locally, and internationally.

Core Values:

We will build a village the represents God’s kingdom through our discipleship ministries which build on the core purposes of the church.  The first core purpose, loving God with all our hearts, minds, and souls, is fulfilled through our worship, where we express that love by magnifying and glorifying God.  The second purpose, loving our neighbors as ourselves is fulfilled through our Outreach Ministry.  Through our outreach, we express to the world that we are vitally concerned and connected with all of God’s creation.  The third purpose is taken from the great commission found in Matthew 28:19-20, to Go and make disciples, which we fulfill through the Evangelism Discipleship Ministry, spreading the Good News about a loving God in every corner of the world.  The fourth purpose is to baptize in the name of Jesus the Christ, which we do through the ministry of our Stewardship Discipleship Ministry, bringing new members lovingly in the fold.  Finally, the Great Commission tells us to teach all nations, which we accomplish through our Education Discipleship Ministry, providing training and instruction in the ways that God commands.
